Divine casters have a completely different set of problems. After resting, Divine casters must pray to their god at an altar to receive and divine powers. The amount of spells is proportional to the size of the altar (given the altar is of sufficient purity and exacting dimensions). For 1st level spells, an altar need be no larger that an amulet. The size of the altar increases as spell level increases. The weight also increases with the size increase. Also, as altars increase in size, the range that a deity is able to channel divine energy also increases. At the extreme, massive temples capable of channeling 9th level divine spells are 100% absolutely pure Mana, roughly cubes 256 inches to a side (modified to the specific dimensions of the specific deity) weighing over 5 million pounds. This allows a deity to grant 9th level spells over a 20 mile radius, making the entire area a bastion of safety for the followers of the specific deity. For this very reason, temples cannot coexist in overlapping areas. The lesser temple will not work while in the radius of a stronger temple. Over time, many temples have been taken over and re-used to commune with different gods. Also, anytime massive amounts of Mana are accumulated, the threat from Arcane forces to steal the Mana grows.

From the chart below, a personal shrine used for daily prayers that could be carried in a backpack would be sufficient to channel 3rd level spells, larger altars may not be feasible as portable shrines.
